Carraig Mor

Frodsham, Cheshire

Extension and remodelling of an existing 1960s detached house in Frodsham, Cheshire. The project features a new single storey side extension, creating a new kitchen and living space that connects with the garden and rest of the house, along with external refurbishments to the existing 1960s facade.

The proposed palette is a contemporary interpretation of materials and traditional details prevalent in the local area. Cheshire red and buff brickwork are combined in soft-textured Flemish bond to reference a local detail and provide interest to the new building.

The patterned brickwork sits on a base of red precast stone. This material is carried through to the detailing of the cills and parapet in the form of dressed stonework.

Internally, the project involves bespoke joinery to the kitchen, utility, boot room, office and a joinery wall with a dual sided fireplace between the living spaces.
